Poll Greeting . . .

Can you spare a few hours to greet voters at a polling location during early voting and/or on Election Day? Please contact Jan Woody at j-bwoody@sbcglobal.net or 972.243.5908 to sign up now!

Blockwalking . . .

We had a record 40 volunteers show up for last weekend’s walk with the Dallas County Young Republicans, Texas College Republicans, and the hardworking students from Texas Christian Academy! But we still have a lot of work left to do in order to beat Jason Villalba’s liberal, Democrat opponent!

Can you lend a hand and help us with one or two of the exciting walks that we have scheduled for these final few weeks? We walk every Saturday and Sunday. Some of our upcoming walks include:

*Volunteers for Villalba

*Lake Highlands Republican Women

*Northwood Republican Women

*Medical Professionals for Villalba

*Realtors for Villalba

*US Congressman Jeb Hensarling for Villalba

We always serve breakfast and lunch, provide t-shirts, and, most importantly, we always have a great time!

For more information including walk launch locations and times, contact Linda Rogers at 214.766.0110 or linda@texansforjason.com.

512/465-1052

AUSTIN (September 17, 2012) – The Texas Hospital Association’s state political action committee, HOSPAC, has endorsed Jason Villalba, Republican for Texas House District 114. One of the largest hospital associations in the country, THA represents more than 85 percent of the state’s hospitals and health care systems, which employ some 369,000 health care professionals statewide.

“Texas hospitals face numerous challenges in delivering care to our diverse, fast-growing population,” said John Hawkins, senior vice president of Advocacy and Public Policy for THA. “HOSPAC has endorsed candidates who recognize the importance of health care to all Texans, and value the role that hospitals play in caring for our communities as well as their significant contributions to the state’s economy.”

“Hospitals are major employers in the state, and workforce needs continue to grow as demand for services increases, especially among the elderly,” said Hawkins. “Sound health care policies will be more important than ever, and Jason Villalba has indicated a willingness to work with Texas hospitals to address health care issues.”

The 33-member HOSPAC board makes endorsements based on a candidate’s position on health care issues and input from local hospital representatives. Learn more about HOSPAC at www.HOSPAC.org.

Texas Association of Realtors endorses Jason Villalba

Texas’ most influential association pledges its support

September 12, 2012 – AUSTIN – The Texas Association of Realtors today announced its decision to endorse Jason Villalba in his campaign for the Texas House of Representatives to represent District 114. Making the statement last week, Chairman Joe Stewart applauded Villalba’s commitment to Texas homeowners.

“The next legislative session will be filled with difficult decisions,” said Stewart. “That’s why we need lawmakers like Villalba who understand the critical role homeowners play in keeping our state prosperous, which is why we’ve pledged our full support.”

Texas is leading the nation’s economic recovery, due in large part to its strong real estate market. To maintain that momentum, Texas’ lawmakers must understand homeowners’ concerns and act to bolster homeownership in the state and supporting those efforts is the association’s top priority this election season. Jason Villalba has clearly demonstrated a commitment to issues critical to sustaining our Texas economy, as well as the needs and challenges our fast-growing state will encounter in the future.

“I am honored to have the endorsement of the Texas Association of Realtors,” Villalba said. “As small business owners, Texas Realtors make the dream of homeownership more affordable for all Texans and I will strive to help support this important goal.”

As one of the largest and most influential trade associations in the state, the Texas Association of Realtors expects to be a considerable grassroots force for Jason Villalba.

Texas Realtors have championed a number of legislative issues enhancing the lives of Texans, such as urging reforms to the property appraisal system in 2011 and 2009, preventing a tax of $600 or more on the personal vehicles of independent Texans in 2007 and advocating for billions in property tax reductions in 2005. To learn more about Texas Realtors’ legislative advocacy on behalf of its members and homeowners, visit TexasRealEstate.com.

About the Texas Association of REALTORS®

With approximately 80,000 members, the Texas Association of REALTORS® is a professional membership organization that represents all aspects of real estate in Texas. We advocate on behalf of Texas REALTORS® and private-property owners to keep homeownership affordable, protect private-property rights, and promote public policies that benefit homeowners.

Friends and Supporters,

Thank you so much for helping us win the primary! Because of all of your work, we are now in the general election against the pro-big government, pro-tax raising, pro-Obama/Pelosi, liberal Democrat! There are only 58 more days until election day and we need you now more than ever.

It’s time to put those signs back up and to get to work for the final push to victory!

If you have leftover signs from the primary, please place them back up in your yard as soon as possible.

If your wire hangers have been bent or broken, let us know and we’ll bring you some new ones.

If your signs have been lost or destroyed, let us know and we will bring you some new ones (we have plenty).

If you have friends, family members, neighbors, fellow Republicans, or other supporters who want a sign, let us know and we’ll bring you as many as you want.

If you want a large sign (4 x 4) in your yard or on a corner or fence, let us know and we will place it for you.

If you want to have a coffee for your neighbors and friends to meet Jason and ask him questions about what he stands for and his vision for Texas, just let us know and we’ll set it up.

Just ask, and it will be done!

As you know, the sign wars are very important to our effort and the more signs we have up the better. Also, you may have noticed some illegal signs from our opponent littering the district on City of Dallas property. Please feel free to report them online at http://dallascityhall.com/services/streets.html, or you can call to report them at 214-670-5111.

Thank you again for all you do. Let’s work hard together to make sure that we keep District 114 under solidly conservative Republican leadership!

Sincerely,

Friends, it is with the greatest humility and with a servant’s heart that I announce to you today that last night we succeeded in winning the Republican Party Primary for the Texas House in HD 114!

It was a long and trying campaign, but in the end, the people have spoken and they have determined that they prefer progress over partisanship. That is what we offer: conservative leadership dedicated to enhancing the lives of the people that we will represent in HD 114.

I want to thank my beautiful wife Brooke and the girls for sacrificing their time with their Papa so that we could pursue this goal. I also want thank my campaign team of Mari Woodlief, Trey Newton, Linda Rogers, Kim Garza Turner, Cecile Newberry Fernandez and Christopher Clement. They were all instrumental in making this possible. And most of all, I want to thank you for your prayers, encouragement, support and for believing in us when we needed you most.

Now, the hard work begins. We have a formidable opponent in November and we will need to increase our efforts exponentially to ensure that the District does not fall into the hands of those who do not believe in smaller government, lower taxes, decreased regulations, strong border security and the sanctity of life. We will fight for those principles because they guide us and they define who we are. Thank you my friends. As I noted yesterday, I could not have done this without you. I mean that from the bottom of my heart. God bless you and God bless Texas.

Jason Villalba

State House candidate Jason Villalba, battling in a GOP runoff to represent Lake Highlands and North Dallas, brought out heavyweight support Friday at a fundraiser headlined by U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison.

The retiring senator joined state Sen. Florence Shapiro of Plano and other top Republicans in championing Villalba as a thoughtful but steadfast conservative.

Hutchison highlighted her support by noting how rare it was for her to jump into such a race.

“Not one other person in the state of Texas have I endorsed in the primary, even though I’ve been asked a lot,” she told about 50 people gathered at a Highland Park home. “The reason is he’s the future.”

Villalba, a Dallas lawyer making his first political run, faces former state Rep. Bill Keffer in the July 31 runoff.

Even though Villalba finished second in the May primary by 6 percentage points, he predicted he would prevail in District 114.

He said there’s a “clear distinction” in leadership style between him and Keffer, who has staked his campaign on being the “true conservative.”

He cast himself as a “community servant” and said he would prove his party bona fides by “doing what is right for the people, not to wave a flag, not to get in partisan battles.”

Keffer, who represented the old District 107 from 2003 to 2006, said in a phone interview that he agrees there are differences in how they would approach the job.

He said he makes no apologies for being perceived as a hard-line Republican, and he jabbed at Villalba’s more consensus-building ways.

“I’m a little puzzled about Jason’s emphasis on reaching across the aisle,” Keffer said.

Hutchison and Shapiro echoed Villalba’s stump speech, saying there needs to be a different kind of leadership coming into both Austin and Washington.

Shapiro said government needs more problem solvers, not a bigger crowd of people who will just say “No.”

Hutchison said lawmakers must focus more on Texas’ future by properly funding education, an area slashed in the last legislative session.

“As I’m on the exit ramp,” she said, “I want to make sure the next generation coming in are the right kind of people who are thoughtful and … who know the community.”
